American Idol:
The long and winding road of Season 9 auditions has now come to an end. But that didn’t stop American Idol producers from reheating some leftovers and dishing out a best (and worst) of the rest episode. Overall, we saw the judges visit seven cities during the past three weeks, where 100,000 hopefuls auditioned and only 181 made it through to Hollywood. Hop below to meet a few more of the contestants you’ll be seeing again-along with some wannabe crooners you thankfully...

American Idol: was that necessary?
Last night’s episode of “American Idol” was kind of a waste of our time. They do the early auditions in seven cities and then throw in an eighth episode for fluff before Hollywood week begins. Anyway, what they did last night was show some more of the really good and really bad auditions that they did not show over the course of this past month. And while it really was not necessary, they aired it, so we’re gonna write about it. They began by recapping Larry...

Review: 'American Idol' - 'Road To Hollywood'
(S09E08) This is the last episode before we get to Hollywood, and you know it's going to be good for two reasons: Victoria Beckham 's back, and they start it off with "Pants on the Ground" (Although, how could they leave the classic Brett Favre version out of the montage?). However, Beckham is only back for a little while, as this is a montage of auditions from all of the stops that we haven't seen yet. It's kind of weird how it's set up, because even though we haven't seen these people...

American Idol: Rocky Mountain high note
I might know something about the music scene in Denver since I do PR for musical acts, and I feel like I’ve represented more artists from that city than from anywhere else to date. The talent there is just amazing, but I’m not sure why. Do the mountains and beautiful scenery inspire people to write great music? But it’s not just that…it’s the singers, too. Anyway, last night on “American Idol” that Rocky Mountain talent was on display for all the...

'American Idol' arithmetic: Randy Jackson's new math does not compute
We've heard it for the past nine years; Randy Jackson is in love with an "American Idol" contestant and he gives them "a million percent" or my recent favorite, "two million thousand five bazillion trillion percent." Randy said that to Ashley Rodriguez during the first audition show in Boston. Take a look at about a minute and a half in: I don't even know what that means?!? Let's try to break that number apart. Now, if we tried to spell that number out, what would that look like?...

Calling on "American Idol" freaks: We want YOU
Yes, we’re again sending out a call throughout the EAST BAY as we solicit applications for our third annual Readers Judges Panel. In the immortal words of Randy Jackson, “It’s time to do your thing, dawg, and make it your own.” What we crave is six die-hard “Idol” fans to write snappy reviews of the “Idol” performances for our Newspapers and online sites. As a judge, you will be asked to watch America’s No. 1 show every week - beginning...

'American Idol' news and links for Thursday, Feb. 4
The chatter continues about Ellen DeGeneres and Simon Cowell not working well together . • Here's a good list of names and photos of all 172 contestants going to Hollywood . • Have you ever noticed that Randy Jackson has a new pair of eyeglasses on every show? I'm betting he's wearing them from his own eyewear line . • Good article about why a 16-year-old contestant we saw last night, Aaron Kelly will be the next American Idol. I thought they had a good point...

American Idol Wraps Audition Tour
American Idol ’s final audition night, a compilation of performance highs and lows along the seven-city tour, started on a contradictory note: Ryan Seacrest kept assuring viewers that the best had been saved for last. On the other hand, he admitted that General Larry Platt 's "Pants on the Ground" had turned out to be the biggest buzz-generator. It was actually a very strange hour — you can argue that the ol' general should have gone to Hollywood, too, with the 181 other...

Video Clips from American Idol 9 Recap Auditions
As I mentioned yesterday, American Idol ’s last audition round was actually a little recap showing up some of the highlights that we hadn’t gotten to see the first time in each of the seven audition cities. Here are some highlights of the highlights. Jessica Furney managed to charm Simon Cowell with his own song well enough to get sent through to Hollywood: I’m still not sure how Victoria Beckham felt to discover that she is Stephanie Fisher ’s Fashion icon...

Can 'American Idol' Survive Without Simon Cowell?
When the news started to break last month at the TCA's that Simon Cowell would be leaving American Idol at the end of this season to focus on his sister project, The X Factor, it felt like just a bad joke.

'American Idol': Did Bikini Boy deserve the time of day?
The American Idol producers love to show useless, attention-mongering “contestants” with zero talent . It’s become one of the staples of the audition shows, one that often produces the sensation of a staple literally coming undone, thus sending one’s stomach lining shooting all over one’s body cavity. These contestants are 100% pure pain. We put up with them because THE SHOW WILL NOT STOP GIVING THEM SCREENTIME. Last night , we saw only seven of Denver’s 26...

Lacey Brown: Back For More on American Idol
When Lacey Brown auditioned for American Idol last year, she sat next to eventual finalist Megan Joy in the cut room and was told by Randy Jackson that it was the end of the road. Ha! Shows what Randy knows. Brown is back on the show, receiving a golden ticket following her latest try out in Orlando. This Texas native wowed the judges with a rendition of "Over the Rainbow" and stands as a rumored season nine semifinalist . Does Brown deserve to move along in Hollywood? Idol kicks off...

Casey James: American Idol Jailbird
When Casey James auditioned for American Idol in Denver, he was asked to remove his shirt. The judges, especially Kara DioGuardi and Victoria Beckham, wanted to take a close look at this contestant. If only producers had done the same. Radar Online reports that James has a criminal background and has actually served time in County Jail. His offenses include: driving while intoxicated, driving with an invalid license and reckless driving. In November 2001, the aspiring singer pled guilty...

American Idol 2010: Didi Benami honours her best friend
Didi Benami decided to audition for American Idol to honour the memory of her best friend. Her pal died four years ago and Didi told the judges: “Rebecca is absolutely the reason I pursue music. She believed in me when I didn’t even know if I believed in myself.” Sounding quite like Norah Jones, Didi sang The Beatles’ “Hey Jude” and finished her rendition by bursting into tears. I actually thought it was pretty cool,” Randy Jackson told her....

Review: 'American Idol' - Denver Auditions
Wow, there were a few whack jobs at the Denver auditions of 'American Idol,' including Bikini Boy (see above). But also an adorable kid who drew Pictures for the judges, as well as a few good singers who got sent through to Hollywood. After the jump, let's take a look at some of the Denver auditions. Mark Labriola. First of all, Mark likes cheese. But even more interesting is the fact that as a kid, he was taken by his mother and the pair were on the run for six years, landing in places like...

Allison Iraheta 'American Idol Will Be Fine Withour Cowell'
Allison Iraheta thinks American Idol will do just fine without Simon Cowell. The 17-year-old, who appeared on the contest herself in season 8, feels the show will still be as strong - because it's not just about who is on the judging panel. "Idol has been around for so long and it has its own following," Iraheta told UsMagazine.com. "It's not only about the judges. There are awesome contestants. "I'm not just saying that because I was a contestant! But I think it's going to do well." Allison...
