'American Idol' Top 12 to Take On the Rolling Stones
Buddy TV / 10th Mar 2010

American Idol: Entertainment Weekly reports that next week's American Idol will celebrate the music of the iconic British band, The Rolling Stones.

Now, I'd usually just be happy that this year's Top 12--they will be announced tomorrow night, by the way--are finally moving away from the Billboard Charts.

But the music of The Rolling Stones? Man, wouldn't that be so cool? I mean, imagine, say, Crystal Bowersox performing songs that Mick Jagger did. Or Katie Stevens. Or Michael Lynche. Or Andrew Garcia.....

'American Idol' Throws A Bunch Of Curveballs
To say that tonight’s ‘Idol’ results were surprising is probably an understatement. All four of the people dispatched could have stayed in favor of way inferior performers — bad singers, prematurely aged children, contenders who relied way too heavily on their overworn schticks to survive in the competition. But was the dispatching tonight of the bewitching Lilly Scott, the shy Alex Lambert, the spazzy Katelyn Epperly, and the over-the-top Todrick Hall a way for America...

'American Idol': Top 12 includes Casey James, Crystal Bowersox, Tim Urban
"American Idol" dragged out its results show with even more drama Thursday (March 11) to announce the Top 12. Making the cut for the girls were Didi Benami, Siobhan Magnus, Paige Miles, Crystal Bowersox, Lacey Brown and Katie Stevens. On the other side, these guys made it: Casey James, Tim Urban, Lee Dewyze, "Big Mike" Lynche, Aaron Kelly and Andrew Garcia. That means we bid farewell to Katelyn Epperly (surprise!), Todrick Hall (who rocked his swan song), Alex Lambert (sorry, mushy banana) and...

American Idol: Women's Work Dominates Men's Night
Michael Lynche took the mens night top praise with his performance of “ A Woman’s Work .” After underestimating him, he brought a huge game to last night's show. The now debonair Lynch wowed the crowd and each judge squealed with delight. Randy Jackson " "That was HOT!" Randy literally squealed and I felt bromance brewing. Ellen DeGeneres " "That was so beautiful! You are the one to beat now!" Ellen still hasn't quite come out of her shell and you could...

"American Idol" Set to Tackle Songs By the Rolling Stones
Two years ago American Idol celebrated the music of the Fab Four , and next week the show’s Top 12 will pick up that rockin’ tradition by belting out songs by “the Greatest Rock & Roll Band in the World,” The Rolling Stones. Host Ryan Seacrest made the announcement of next week’s musical theme on a radio promotion taped during last night’s episode, Entertainment Weeky reports . As it’s still too early on in the competition for celebrity mentors,...

'American Idol': Top 12 finalists get Rolling Stones for first theme
You can't always get what you want -- but the Top 12 "American Idol" finalists will be getting an awesome first theme in the songs of The Rolling Stones. EW is reporting that during a break in the Wednesday night (March 10) live show, Ryan Seacrest taped a radio promo in which he revealed the theme for next week is The Rolling Stones. Does this mean a Stone could mentor? Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, Charlie Watts and Ronnie Wood are all still living. Still, that would be a pretty big get for...

American Idol Top 8 Girls Take Stage
The Top 8 girls of American Idol season 9 took the stage on Tuesday and I personally think that the aspiring singers finally brought their game up, with only a couple of exceptions. Katie Stevens' did poorly with Kelly Clarkson's 'Break Away'.

On `Idol,' Bowersox shines; 3 sink in judges' eyes
If the " American Idol " judges hold sway over viewers, contestants Katie Stevens , Paige Miles and Katelyn Epperly should be nervous about making it into the top 12. The three received uniformly negative comments from the Fox TV show's judging panel after performing Tuesday night, while the other five female singers all hit high notes. Simon Cowell called soulful Crystal Bowersox the contestant to beat. The eight male semifinalists will perform Wednesday, with the top six...

American Idol: The wrong four out the door?
Well, "American Idol" eliminated four more singers to get down to the top 12 finalists. Spoilers, and my thoughts on whether America got it right (hint: no) coming up after the jump... Where to start? Well, the good news: after two weeks of eliminations that were awkwardly dominated by minority contestants (albeit minority contestants who didn't really deserve to stay), Paige Miles survived on the female side, and Big Mike Lynche and Andrew Garcia advanced for the men. Todrick Hall was,...

American Idol 2010: Simon Cowell thought Andrew Garcia's 'Genie In A Bottle' was a little desperate (VIDEO)
March 11th, 2010 by Lisa McGarry. Tags: American Idol 2010 , Andrew Garcia , Simon Cowell We can see what Andrew Garcia was doing when he chose to sing a Christina Aguilera track on last night’s American Idol. Since he made the live shows he hasn’t been able to live up to the revamped version of Paula Abduls ‘Straight Up’ that he performed in the audition stages and he obviously thought last night’s gimmicky performance would recapture some of that success....

'American Idol:' Does Big Mike Have An Unfair Advantage? He Had A Song In A Tyler Perry Movie!
Big Mike totally killed it last night. But he's been working professionally for years! Do you think that's a turn off, or a sure sign he's meant to be a working artist? I know that American Idols don’t actually fall off the turnip truck and jump into super-stardom. Adam Lambert was on Broadway and Kelly Clarkson had shopped around records for years before she hit the big time. Really, the best ‘Idols’ have been groomed their entire lives to suddenly be discovered. Nevertheless, it kind of ...

Some Hits, Some Misses on American Idol
March 10, 2010 The top 8 women took to the American Idol stage last night to do their best to impress the judges. While there were a number of good performances, there were also a number of not so good ones, notibly from Katie Stevens and Katelyn Epperly. Epperly sang "I Feel the Earth Move" and received less than positive vibes from the judges, especially judge DioGuardi who stated that she was "just going through the motions." Stevens, only 17, sang "Breakaway" and was told again...

"American Idol" Contestant Michael Lynche Made Kara DioGuardi Cry
Kara DioGuardi wasn’t the only one crying after Michael Lynche’s phenomenal rendition of Kate Bush’s “This Woman’s Work” last night on “ American Idol .” I hate to admit it, but I had to bust out the Kleenex, too. The other men can learn a thing or two from this dude. Holy crap. “Idol” just got exciting.

'American Idol': The top 12 are revealed
“We could be in for a surprise or two,” host Ryan Seacrest said in opening “ American Idol ” tonight. He wasn’t wrong. The Fox singing contest announced the top 12 competitors. SPOILER ALERT:

American Idol Performance of the Week: Michael Lynche
On American Idol , he's known as "Big Mike." This moniker, bestowed upon semifinalist Michael Lynche by Ryan Seacrest, refers to the former's massive stature. But it's also now appropriate for the impression made Lynche last night. It was BIG! Belting out Kate Bush's "This Woman's Work," Lynch literally brought Kara DioGuardi to tears. She had to be comforted by Simon Cowell, while the crowd couldn't stop applauding. Watch the performance below, and be warned Casey James : you're no longer...

March 11th, 2010 by Lisa McGarry. Tags: American Idol 2010 , Kara DioGuardi , Michael Lynche American Idol singer Michael Lynche is on a roll. He returned to form and impressed the judges with his performance on last week’s show and last night he managed to bring Kara DioGuardi to tears with the emotion of his song. The new baby daddy closed the show with ‘This Woman’s Work’ by Kate Bush and the judges unanimously agreed that it was brilliant. We liked the performance...

Norman Gentle Dishes on 'American Idol' (VIDEO)
So, this is where former 'American Idol' contestant Norman Gentle has disappeared to. Gentle appeared today on 'The Wendy Williams Show' (weekdays, syndicated) and dished on the singing competition this season. Gentle speculated on the relationship between judges Simon Cowell and Ellen DeGeneres, Kara DioGuardi's incessant flirting with Cowell and her crying jag after Michael Lynche's performance last night, and the difficulty in getting face time with Cowell.
