Lacey Brown American Idol "Over The Rainbow" (VIDEO)
The 23 year-old church choir director Lacey Brown did not give up after being in the Top 50 right next to Megan Joy Corkrey last year and returned better than ever with her rendition of " Over The Rainbow " at the American Idol Season 9 "the best and the worst of auditions" finale (watch video below).

Lacey Brown auditions on American Idol 9. She sang "Over the Rainbow". Lacey auditioned last year and made it to the Top 50. The judges chose Megan Joy over her to make it to the Semi-Finals.
American Idol Season 9 Audition recap
We were also introduced to Amanda Schectman who had a rather nice voice, but I found myself phasing out while she sang. I guess I wasn’t alone because all the judges said that she can sing but she has a lack of connection with her audience. She promised to work on it and got four yes votes. Last season Lacey Brown made it to the top 15 and was nudged out by Megan Joy . She came back and sang “Somewhere Over the Rainbow” very well and was given a second chance to prove...
American Idol: was that necessary?
Last night’s episode of “American Idol” was kind of a waste of our time. They do the early auditions in seven cities and then throw in an eighth episode for fluff before Hollywood week begins. Anyway, what they did last night was show some more of the really good and really bad auditions that they did not show over the course of this past month. And while it really was not necessary, they aired it, so we’re gonna write about it.
They began by recapping Larry...
American Idol 2010: Didi Benami honours her best friend
Didi Benami decided to audition for American Idol to honour the memory of her best friend. Her pal died four years ago and Didi told the judges: “Rebecca is absolutely the reason I pursue music. She believed in me when I didn’t even know if I believed in myself.” Sounding quite like Norah Jones, Didi sang The Beatles’ “Hey Jude” and finished her rendition by bursting into tears. I actually thought it was pretty cool,” Randy Jackson told her....

American Idol 2010: Randy Jackson likes Hope Johnson's innocence
Hope Johnson showed up on last night’s American Idol best of the rest auditions. Holly grew up poor, very poor. So Poverty stricken that she used to bring home food from her school lunch tray to feed her brother at home. Holly impressed the judges with her cheery attitude though, telling them: “There’s always tomorrow, and things are always gonna be better. There’s a lot worse things than just going without.” Hope sang ‘I Hope You Dance’ and the panel...

Randy Jackson is being accused of stealing the idea for ‘ America’s Best Dance Crew ,’ according to TMZ . Dwight McGhee claims he pitched a series called ‘International Breakerz League’ to MTV back in 2004 – and the ‘American Idol’ judge and MTV took his idea and ran with it. McGhee, who is suing MTV and Jackson, says both show ideas are “uncannily similar.” He also claims that he struck an “implied” contract with the...
American Idol - Jackson Sued Over Dance Crew Show
American Idol judge Randy Jackson is at the centre of a new lawsuit over allegations the idea for his U.S. talent contest AMERICA'S BEST Dance Crew was stolen.
Dwight MCGhee filed papers in Los Angeles County Superior Court last week (begs25Jan10) suing Jackson and the show's broadcaster MTV for allegedly copying his original idea.
MCGhee claims he pitched the format of a dancing show, titled International Breakerz League, to MTV executives in 2004 only for the network to allegedly use his...
American Idol: Rocky Mountain high note
I might know something about the music scene in Denver since I do PR for musical acts, and I feel like I’ve represented more artists from that city than from anywhere else to date. The talent there is just amazing, but I’m not sure why. Do the mountains and beautiful scenery inspire people to write great music? But it’s not just that…it’s the singers, too. Anyway, last night on “American Idol” that Rocky Mountain talent was on display for all the...
'American Idol' Auditions: The Best Of The Rest
The long and winding road of Season 9 auditions has now come to an end. But that didn’t stop American Idol producers from reheating some leftovers and dishing out a best (and worst) of the rest episode. Overall, we saw the judges visit seven cities during the past three weeks, where 100,000 hopefuls auditioned and only 181 made it through to Hollywood. Hop below to meet a few more of the contestants you’ll be seeing again-along with some wannabe crooners you thankfully...
Review: 'American Idol' - Denver Auditions
Wow, there were a few whack jobs at the Denver auditions of 'American Idol,' including Bikini Boy (see above). But also an adorable kid who drew Pictures for the judges, as well as a few good singers who got sent through to Hollywood. After the jump, let's take a look at some of the Denver auditions.
Mark Labriola. First of all, Mark likes cheese. But even more interesting is the fact that as a kid, he was taken by his mother and the pair were on the run for six years, landing in places like...
Gaunt Victoria Beckham gets a 'Croydon facelift' for her return to American Idol
The former Spice Girl look as skinny as ever as she joined Simon Cowell, Kara DioGuardi and Randy Jackson on the judging panel in Denver.
Review: 'American Idol' - 'Road To Hollywood'
(S09E08) This is the last episode before we get to Hollywood, and you know it's going to be good for two reasons: Victoria Beckham 's back, and they start it off with "Pants on the Ground" (Although, how could they leave the classic Brett Favre version out of the montage?).
However, Beckham is only back for a little while, as this is a montage of auditions from all of the stops that we haven't seen yet. It's kind of weird how it's set up, because even though we haven't seen these people...
'Idol' Faves: Hope Johnson, Michael Lynch, Aaron Kelly, Lacey Brown, and More
American Idol arguably left the best for last with a final audition episode that included previously unaired tryouts from across the country. The best leftover auditions included: Jessica Furney, Amanda Shectman, Lee Dowzo, Lacey Brown, Didi Benabi, Aaron Kelly, and Hope Johnson. Here's a quick look at some of the contestants we'll see during Hollywood week.
Jessica Furney
Jessica Furney, a 29-year-old caregiver from Wamego, KS, tried out for the second time after auditioning in season...
IDOL 411: 'Big Mike' spared by 'American Idol'?
Big Mike, the personal trainer whom Kara described as a "singing teddy bear" in Wednesday night's final auditions episode, was reportedly booted after his father revealed to his local Florida paper that Michael had made the top 24. But the fact that FOX decided to include Big Mike in Wednesday's episode strongly suggests that Lynche, who had his first baby on the way at the time of his try-out, will perform before Ellen DeGeneres in Hollywood next week. Good call, "Idol." As Ruben Studdard can...
The 'American Idol' Honor Roll: The Best of the Best of the Rest
I'll admit, I was initially skeptical of American Idol 's decision to lump an assorted array of auditions into one episode. I was thinking, "can't we just discover them in Hollywood or something?" Right now, I'm still a bit skeptical, but at least I can count the bad auditions with only one hand, and everything else went from passable to just great. In fact, this episode introduced me to two names that might be familiar to you, considering the Top 24 Spoilers--and that's where we kick off this...
