Reality TV Shows That Went Too Far

By  |

If you’re new, Subscribe! →

By their nature, most reality shows are pretty ridiculous. It’s no secret that they entail some level of manipulation by producers, increasingly insane premises, and publicity-hungry participants. However, some particularly shady gems really stick out in our memories. Let’s check out the shows that took it too far and thankfully ended up getting canned…

Excellent list, Nicki. Wow, talk about questionable television! The only one I didn't cringe over was the last, Man vs Beast. At least in that one no one was being maligned nor brought to tears. If an athlete wants to pit him or herself against a creature genetically adept at the competitive event hey knock yourself out. I can't see a human besting one of Mother's animals doing what it was born to do. Did anyone ever win a race?

I Want to Marry Harry….it was about gold diggers who wonder if they could marry a rich Prince Harry. SURPRISE, a gold digger hooks up with Harry, the construction worker.

Unfortunately, I don't remember the name. But wasn't there a show which was cancelled and they didn't even tell the contestants for at least 1-2 weeks later. I think it was something like Survivor.

Does anyone remember the 2007 CBS reality TV bomb Kid Nation, which followed a group of kids and teenagers as they were sent off to live in a town in order to build a society of their own without adults? Me neither. Glad it got cancelled after just one season.

The fake Harry did end up choosing someone. He told her he wasn’t actually prince Harry but she didn’t care. They got, I think 1 million dollars from the network for her saying she didn’t care and still wanted to marry him. Then they walked off together. I don’t know if there still together.

actually I do find Man vs Beast concept is rather interesting, after all we often have kids books depicting what if human vs the animals. Then the thought of possible poor treatments and cruelty to prepare the animals for the show creeps in..

I remember I used to love watching the Swan! Lol! Boy meets Boy and Man vs Beast are both awful! Those animals being subjected to unnecessary displays! Americans would do anything just for their 15 seconds of fame!

There was a show that lasted only 1 season — I forget what it was called — where the premise of the show was that, in the first episode, a Young woman 'chose 6-8 Young men out of 12-15 & do something similar to The Bachelor/The Bachelorette. She was told that these men wouldn't participate on the show & a Young man was selected for her. She had to pretend to her family that she was in love with him & that they were getting married. IF she pulled it off, she would get $500,000 & her family wou;d get the same amount. The actor they hired to be her pretend fiancé was a big clutzy guy that was already married.
